Our Story
Built by someone who spent years inside this industry. Started because the gap was too obvious to ignore.
I’m Lucas, founder of 3T Competence.
Before I started this company, I spent years working in clinical simulation at a level where I could see exactly how the market operated. What was being built, who it was being built for, and where it consistently fell short.
What I kept seeing was this: the programs that needed practical training solutions the most were the ones least able to access them. Equipment was expensive, fixed in function, and tied to centralized lab environments. Students got a few scheduled hours of hands-on practice, if they were lucky. Then they went to clinical placement.
That bothered me. It still does.
I moved my family from Australia to Texas to build something different. Not because the US market was easy to enter. It isn’t. But because the need here is real, the scale is significant, and I believed I could build a training system that actually fit how nursing programs operate, rather than asking programs to fit around the equipment.
That’s mySim.
What we’re trying to solve
The core problem in nursing skills training isn’t a lack of good educators or motivated students. It’s time. There are never enough lab hours, never enough shared equipment, never enough scheduled practice slots for every student to build the repetition they need before their first clinical shift.
mySim is built to extend that practice time – outside the scheduled lab, outside the simulation suite, and at a price point that lets programs equip entire cohorts rather than a handful of shared stations.
It’s not a replacement for labs or clinical placement. It’s what fills the gap between those environments and the classroom.
Why we build it here
We manufacture in the US. Specifically in Belton, Texas, where we’re based.
That’s not a marketing line. It means we control our supply chain, we’re not exposed to tariff risk, and when a program needs a custom configuration, we can actually turn it around. It also means when something needs to be fixed or adapted, we fix it. Directly, quickly, without routing through a distributor in another country.
What makes this different from a typical vendor relationship
I’m the managing director, not a salesperson. I come from inside this industry, and I talk to educators the way I’d want someone to talk to me. Directly, without a pitch, and without pretending there’s a one-size-fits-all answer.
Most programs that come to us have a specific problem they’re trying to solve. Cohort size has grown. Lab access hasn’t kept up. They’ve moved to hybrid delivery and the old model doesn’t work anymore. Budget conversations are hard.
We don’t start by showing a catalog. We start by asking what’s actually going on and working from there.
If you want to see what mySim looks like in practice before committing to anything, just ask. We’re straightforward to deal with.
Why educators choose 3T Competence
Programs work with us because we understand the realities of nursing education firsthand.
We know the pressure of limited lab access, growing cohort sizes, faculty workload, and budget constraints.
Rather than selling a fixed package, we work with programs to build a practical solution that fits their curriculum, learners, and goals.
Tell us about your program. We’ll give you a straight answer on whether mySim is a fit.
